Ditto is now available in Pokemon Go so players can finally catch the newly added Pokemon. They may not be aware where Dittos are hiding but players may already have caught the new Pokemon. The addition of Ditto went live before Thanksgiving.
According to gaming website GameSpot, Pokemon Go developer Niantic said earlier that the game still had one secret left to reveal. A short while later, data miners found the possible existence of Ditto. Data miners Silph Road were able to extract freshly mined data from Pokemon Go after what appeared to be a simple update to the game. They discovered that there seemed to be a new addition to the game.
Gaming website Polygon repoted that they found a move not seen before in the game called Transform. Transform is the primary move of the Pokemon Ditto. During battle, the Transform move gave the Pokemon the ability to copy the look and moves of the opposing Pokemon.
Just before Thanksgiving, numerous posts online reported that trainers around the world were catching Ditto. This confirmed that Ditto could finally be captured in Pokemon Go. The new Pokemon disguises itself as other Pokemon. It only reveals itself when it is caught and then it appears as a giant pink blob.
According to Forbes magazine, Ditto was now available for players to catch. After reports spread online regarding the appearance of Ditto, Pokemon Go developer Niantic later officially acknowledged the existence of Ditto in the game.
In a post on its official website, the Pokemon Company confirmed the inclusion of Ditto in Pokemon Go. The post did not reveal anything that was not already known but it did confirm the earlier discovery and reports. Ditto is the final one of the 151 first-generation non-legendary Pokemon to be added to Pokemon Go. Ditto acts like any other Pokemon but the difference is it only has one move, Transform.
Transform changes Ditto into the same Pokemon as its opponent. When battling a team of Pokemon, its changes into the first Pokemon it fights and stay the same for the rest of the battle. In Pokemon Go, players may not realize they may be fighting Ditto since it only appears to be like other Pokemon. Once players capture it though, there will be a short cutscene that shows Ditto. If the cutscene is missed or skipped, players will need to check their inventory to verify if Ditto has been caught.
