"Winter is coming", one of the most popular phrases of the decade which came from the popular HBO television series based on George R. R. Martin's fantasy novel saga, "Game of Thrones". And for the fans of the fantasy drama series, you know what else is coming? Wines are coming!
Vintage Wine Estates, winemakers based in Santa Rosa, California, recently created, in collaboration with HBO, a "Game of Thrones"-branded reserve-style Cabernet Sauvignon, a chardonnay and a proprietary red blend, designed with the show and its characters in mind, as stated by Stuff. The wine bottles' price will range from 20 to 40 dollars, with the chardonnay and red blend sold for 20 dollars and the cabernet sauvignon priced for 40 dollars.
"Given the prominent role of wine on 'Game of Thrones' and our previous success in the beverage category, an officially licensed wine for the show feels like a natural extension for our fans," said HBO Cable Company's director of licensing and retail, Jeff Peters, as stated by cnet. "'Game of Thrones' wines most definitely will add to the fan experience as the battle for the Iron Throne heats up heading into the final seasons."
HBO is also planning to sell "Game of Thrones" themed beer. The beer products are made in partnership with Brewery Ommegang, located in Cooperstown, New York. Back in the year 2014, Australian marketing company Common Ventures made a series of wine labels for red and white varieties of wine. The wines were labeled as "Wines of Westeros". During that time, Common Ventures tried to get the wine products approved but it seems like the plan was scrapped.
The Game of Thrones wine bottles will be available in the United States next year on the month of March. The bottles will contain 750 milliliters of wine, and as of now those are the only details about the new product.
