A few games have been reported will already be available during the launch of the Nintendo Switch. The launch titles of the Pokemon publisher's next console will include Bethesda's Elder Scrolls game Skyrim and a new Mario game and Splatoon both from Nintendo.
Presently, Nintendo has no official word yet on the launch line-up of the Nintendo Switch nor even possible launch window titles. More information will be known when the manufacturer of the NES Classic Edition mini-console will deliver a video presentation scheduled for January 2017.
Information on the Nintendo Switch right now comes from two reliable sources who have Nintendo insider knowledge. These two trusted industry sources of Nintendo information are LetsPlayVideoGames' Laura Dale and blogger Emily Rogers.
Dale and Rogers both reported that the Mario Kart publisher's highly-anticipated game Zelda: Breath of the Wild will not be available during the launch of the Nintendo Switch. Zelda: Breath of the Wild will be launched several months after the launch of Nintendo's hybrid home/portable console. According to gaming industry news website LetsPlayVideoGames, and gaming websites VG247 and GamingBolt, the game will also be released at the same time on the Nintendo Wii U.
The Nintendo Switch will also launch with a new 3D open world Mario game. The game was shown in the Switch reveal video. It will be much like Mario 64 or Mario Galaxy. Co-op play will be available within the game. A demo is being developed for the press to play during the video presentation event of the Nintendo Switch slated for January 2017.
Skyrim will also launch with the Switch. The Nintendo Switch version is a port of the remastered Special Edition of Skyrim and it will have mod support. Skyrim was shown in the reveal video of the Switch but publisher Bethesda did not confirm that the console will get a port of the game.
At the launch of the Nintendo Switch, Splatoon will be available and it will be bundled with the more expensive edition of the console. Splatoon will have multiplayer with each player on a separate Switch console and there are plans for single-player gameplay as well.
Nintendo is also working to make Mario Kart available for the Nintendo Switch within three months after launch. The Switch Mario Kart game will be based off Mario Kart 8 with added and improved features.
