While fans were disappointed about the ending of ”Mass Effect 3”, Bioware just recently released a new trailer of the upcoming role-playing third person shooter video game “Mass Effect: Andromeda”. A successor to the previous game, “Mass Effect: Andromeda“ is the only game in the Mass Effect franchise to include an open world environment, thus, players are free to explore the world.
Characters- Two new characters will be introduced: Scott and Sarah Ryder. Just like the first “Mass Effect” trilogy, “Mass Effect: Andromeda” will have players create a male or female character and customize their name, appearance and attributes. Similar to its previous games, “Mass Effect: Andromeda” offers players to romance with other characters. According to gamesradar, same sex romance will also be available, and relationships with alien species are possible.
Plot- “Mass Effect: Andromeda” takes places in a galaxy far away from the Milky Way, which is the Andromeda Galaxy. 600 years after the events of the first “Mass Effect Trilogy”, players are tasked to find a suitable home world for the human species to colonize. Aboard the starship Tempest, they will explore the vastness of space; discover the mysteries of the unchartered galaxy, Andromeda; seek out new life and new civilizations; and fight against horrifying enemies and alien creatures.
Gameplay- “Mass Effect: Andromeda” includes and open world environment, which is a departure from its previous instalments. Players are able to choose either a male or female human character and have the capability to pilot flying vehicles to explore new planets. The game includes planet exploration, romantic relationships, dialogue tree and cooperative multiplayer.
Gamespot states that the gameplay has better balance between RPG and third-person shooter than the first three Mass Effect titles, and these are seen as an upgrade to its previous games. There a few improvements in the next “Mass Effect” franchise. According to gamesradar.com, there is an in-game scanner, which enables players to assess the habitability of a planet. In addition, Ryder can pass through gaps using propulsion jets to make the Mako jump.
