Turkish president angers women over sexism remarks in a meeting on Monday.
Many female groups are in shock as well as in rage after hearing the recent speech delivered by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan during the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. According to the latest news, Erdogan has gained numerous criticisms when he said that the male and female genders are entirely not equal.
"You cannot put women and men on an equal footing... it's against nature. They were created differently," Erdogan said in his speech.
Aside from saying that both genders are not equal, Erdogan also went on to say that pregnancy which happens in the female population actually places a great obstacle in having an equal opportunity in a certain workplace. With the country leader's recent speech, many human rights activists are actually not happy about it. It is believed that what Erdogan said during the conference is a great offensive statement against the female members of the community; thus, more women started to express their anger in the social media.
According to a related report, Erdogan has also gained criticisms for becoming too involved with the personal lives of his countrymen. The president's previous statement concerning motherhood such as his declaration that Turkish women should only have three children is also believed as a violation of their own rights.
Although many female members in the urban area are actually mad about Erdogan's latest speech, not all are actually against its concept. According to the news article from Aljazeera, there are several women in the community particularly those who live in the rural areas who receive benefits for being stay at home moms that are still favored with the Turkish president being in the position just as long as the economy status is good.
