Tiger Woods's feud with Dan Jenkins has just started and this time the professional golf player is not afraid to rebuke a 'Golf Digest' article by the Hall of Fame golf writer.
According to several Tiger Woods feud with Jenkins reports, the 38-year-old professional golfer slammed the interview with the latter - who is known for his snarky and witty remarks - as "fake."
The said interview that ignited Tiger Woods' feud with Jenkins reportedly contained a lot jabs at Woods' personal and professional shortcomings, reports SB Nation.
While the 'Golf Digest' article didn't receive a lot of attention from the public from the time it was published, it has created a huge buzz now that Woods has issued a public response on Derek Jeter's 'The Players Tribune.'
In his response titled "Not True, Not Funny," Woods made a de facto call to action for people to read the article featuring the "fake" interview.
"Did you read Dan Jenkins' interview with me in the latest Golf Digest? I hope not. Because it wasn't me. It was some jerk he created to pretend he was talking to me. That's right, Jenkins faked an interview, which fails as parody, and is really more like a grudge-fueled piece of character assassination. Journalistically and ethically, can you sink any lower?" Woods said in his response.
Woods then continued by calling the article a "grudge-fueled piece of character assassination," as per a Washington Post report.
"I like to think I have a good sense of humor, and that I'm more than willing to laugh at myself. In this game, you have to. I've been playing golf for a long time, 20 years on the PGA Tour. I've given lots of interviews to journalists in all that time, more than I could count, and some have been good and some not so much. All athletes know that we will be under scrutiny from the media," he added.
"But this concocted article was below the belt. Good-natured satire is one thing, but no fair-minded writer would put someone in the position of having to publicly deny that he mistreats his friends, takes pleasure in firing people, and stiffs on tips - and a lot of other slurs, too. ... The truth is, Jenkins has no idea how I think or feel about any of the things he claims to know about, which is why he had to make things up."
Meanwhile, Jenkins, who has attended all major championship events since the 1950s and has developed relationships with all Hall of Fame golfers except for Woods, claimed that he did the satirical interview article because Woods has never responded for his request to have an interview.
"I once made an effort to get to know the old silicone collector. Tried to arrange dinners with him for a little Q&A, on or off the record, his choice. But the closest I ever got was this word from his agent: 'We have nothing to gain,'" Jenkins wrote in a column titled "Nice (Not) Knowing You."
The article that led to Tiger Woods' feud with Jenkins contains a lot of satirical bit as the professional writer pokes fun at Woods' antics.
Jenkins mainly criticized Woods' gesture of firing 3 swing coaches on his team, the golfer's reputation as a cheap tipper, the player's troubles with the Rules of Golf in the recent years, his poor Ryder Cup record, and, above all, Woods' infamous sex scandal.
According to Jenkins, the Tiger Woods' article maybe personal at some points but it is not at all cruel or mean.
Tiger Woods' feud with Dan Jenkins is quite surprising because Woods is well-known for being the silent type despite the extreme criticism that came his way.
