Most people expressed their thoughts about the recent revelation through the different social media networks. There are those who think that he did nothing wrong when he disclosed some details of his mission while there also those who criticized him for trying to get the media's attention.

In the series of different interviews from different shows, the retired navy introduced himself as the man behind bin Laden's death in May 2011. Robert O'Neill, who was a member of the SEAL's elite Team Six discussed about his most important mission, especially when he decided to move to the rooftop where the world's most wanted terrorist was hiding. According to an article from the Mail Online, his first concern was if the terrorist leader is wearing a suicide vest; thus, he believes that bin Laden is a huge threat and needs to be shot.

According to a report from the Associated Press, the retired Navy SEAL was also involved in other tough missions, which were later on adapted to different films. One of Robert O'Neill's high-profile missions includes the rescue mission of the captain of a merchant ship Maersk Alabama, which was hostage by the Somali pirates in 2009 while another is the retrieval of Marcus Luttrell, the only survivor from a team who tried to track down a Taliban leader in 2005.

Despite of Robert O'Neill's revelation about his mission in Pakistan, many still criticize him, saying that he is jeopardizing the agency as well as breaking its tradition of secrecy.

"I shot him and I killed him and there's no controversy as far as I'm concerned. This was a very good thing that we did" the retired Navy SEAL who shot bin Laden said.
