NFL Rumors: Tom Brady, NY Jets in Perfect Time To Begin New Love Story

The latest rift between the New England Patriots and their quarterback Tom Brady could mark the beginning of a new era in Foxborough - a situation that would give the New York Jets the opportunity to get their hands on the Super Bowl-winning signal-caller.

The 37-year old Brady has suddenly entered uncharted territories with regards to his relationship with the Patriots, the ball club he played for since he was drafted 199th overall in 2000.

Brady, who won two NFL MVPs and three Super Bowl championships with the Pats, might see his playing days with the franchise coming to an end soon, as he has reportedly grown unhappy of the direction the Pats are taking.

Brady has been in a funk through the first four games this season, covering just 791 yards with 4 touchdowns and a quarterback rating of 79.1. According to Chris Mortensen of ESPN, Brady doesn't like the Pats move to change the coaching staff and personnel.

"Brady is "uncomfortable" with some of the changes to personnel and the coaching staff and that he has seen his level of input into the offense - things like game planning, pre-snap adjustments and personnel packages - drop of late," Mortensen reported.

Now, there are reports that the Patriots are now considering to start rookie signal-caller Jimmy Garoppolo, if things continue to go downhill with Brady, who is far from being untouchable from trades.

Two sources told ESPN that former rookie quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo was drafted as Brady's successor and the move could happen "sooner than later." No source suggested that "sooner" would mean a change during the 2014 season.

Fresh Start

Brady already stressed that retirement is far from his mind and he plans to play into his 40s. Apparently, the Patriots are not interested in keeping him for much longer as they inch closer in ushering a youth revolution with Garoppolo leading the charge at quarterback position.

Despite his recent hiccups, Brady is still an elite quarterback and four lousy games won't easily write him off. Clearly, he needs a fresh start, an opportunity to play in a brand new environment.

But where can Brady find that perfect place to kick off the second chapter of his career? Perhaps, he might not need to get out from AFC East, because the Jets will be ready to welcome him with open arms.

History tells that the Jets are not shying away from the opportunity to try an ageing quarterback. Few years ago, a former NFL MVP named Brett Favre came in to resurrect the franchise in shambles. Favre nearly succeeded in his mission, but no thanks to four losses in the last five games that season, he failed.

As the Jets face a murky future with a struggling Geno Smith, the team clearly needs another ageing savior this season. As proud as Brady is, he also wants to save his career and squeeze more millions out of it.

A perfect love story happens at the most unexpected time. Perhaps, the time has come for Brady and Jets to start their own tale. As crazy as it may sound, but this scenario would certainly pique everybody's interest.
