Meg Ryan Ex-Boyfriend John Mellencamp Continue To Gush About Her Despite Break Up; Mellencamp Says, ‘Nothing’s Over ‘Til It’s Over’

Meg Ryan ex-boyfriend John Mellencamp had nothing but good things to say about her in a recent interview with the Associated Press. In fact, Mellencamp even hinted that things between him and Meg Ryan, despite all of the break up stories that surround them, are not done just yet.

The 62-year-old singer of "Troubled Man" said, "I'm very happy with the time I've spent with Meg Ryan. She's a beautiful girl and I know that I will never, ever, ever be with a funnier girl than her. Not gonna happen. I'm grateful for the three-and-a-half years we've been together."

According to the report made by Us Weekly last August, the couple has officially called it quits. However, Mellencamp's recent statements indicate otherwise. In fact, he has confirmed that "nothing's over" between the two of them.

When he was asked about his current status with Meg Ryan, Mellencamp only replied, "Nothing's over. Nothing's over. I never say die for anything. Do you ever quit on anything?" Obviously, Mellencamp is still carrying his torch for Meg Ryan.

Moreover, he also had a recent interview with Matt Lauer on the "Today" show on Thursday. He mentioned that he is presently busy with his latest song, "Troubled Man," as he is working on it, quite slowly, since the 1990s. He said, "I started to write it, but I wasn't mature enough to write it." He further added that with this latest album of his, he is "too old to write about girls now."

Additionally, Mellencamp also recently said on "The Howard Stern Show," "Meg's an angel. She's an angel sent to me, and I'm very happy. And, you know, nothing's over 'til it's over." It looks like the "Plain Spoken" singer is ever the optimist. In fact, if he had his way, Meg Ryan will surely be off the market.

To date, Meg Ryan or her representative, have not returned any requests for a comment on the matter.
