Pascagoula, Mississippi Playground Beating: 5-Year-Old Girl Viciously Attacked in Arlington Elementary; School, Police District Insist No Crime was Committed [PHOTOS]

Pascagoula, Mississippi Playground Beating - A 5-year-old kindergarten student has been allegedly viciously attacked by another student at their school's playing field last week.

Lacy Harris, the mother of the assaulted child in the Pascagoula, Mississippi playground beating, claimed that her daughter AvaLynn, was repeatedly kicked in the face by another child until she fell off the slide on the Arlington Elementary School's playground.

However, the institution insists that the little girl was hurt on her own and no other student had caused her injury.

On Thursday, Harris filed a police report with the Pascagoula Police Department after her daughter came home from school with "her face swollen, cut, and bruised beyond recognition," a description of the incident posted to the Facebook page "Justice For AvaLynn" read.

According to the Pascagoula, Mississippi playground beating account posted on Facebook, AvaLynn told her mother that she was repeatedly kicked in the face by another student until she fell off the the slide on the school's playground. Arlington Elementary informed Lacey [that there] were no faculty members present when the incident happened, thus no one could confirm whether or not another another child had indeed caused Ava's injuries, Huffington Post has learned.

Meanwhile, the Pascagoula School District released a statement saying, " A student was injured while playing on the playground at Arlington Elementary School Tuesday afternoon. School officials responded to the situation. The parent was contacted and the student received medical treatment. No other children were involved in the incident. The Pascagoula School District remains committed to the safety of all its students."

Law enforcement authorities were reportedly investigating the Pascagoula, Mississippi playground beating case.

"The mother alleges another child kicked her child on the slide," Pascagoula Police Department Lt. Jim Roe told GulfLive.com. "Right now, there's no indication something criminal took place. I have spoken with school security and an assistant superintendent is investigating the matter."

Lacy has hired a lawyer for the Pascagoula, Mississippi playground beating case.

She has also launched a GoFundMe campaign that has so far raised $5,000 to aid with AvaLynn's treatment.
