Manchester City will reportedly sign Monaco striker Radamel Falcao, adding another quality striker to their star-studded goal scoring lineup. Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reported Man City's latest signing on Saturday.
In his latest article, Di Marzio stated that Man City completed the deal with Monaco to sign Falcao, who is fed up with his situation after one season with the Ligue 1 ball club. The former Porto and Atletico Madrid striker is considered one of the finest goal-scorer in Europe with his ability to score from any angle.
If Di Marzio's report is true, Falcao will be just one of the many weapons (Stevan Jovetic, Edin Dzeko and Sergio Aguero) in the very potent Man City's striking corps.
On the other hand, Alvaro Negredo, who played well last season, could be released by Man City to join Valencia. Negredo scored 23 goals in 48 games last year, but he was sidelined by injury towards the end of the season.
As for Falcao, the possible move to Etihad Stadium isn't shocking at all, considering he has been the target of several football powerhouses throughout the transfer period. Aside from the defending English Premier League champion, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and even Spanish La Liga giant Real Madrid expressed interest in getting the talented Colombian.
Falcao reportedly wanted to join Real Madrid and reunite with his buddy, midfielder James Rodriguez, who played one season with him in Monaco. Meanwhile, Arsenal was tapped as the favorites to win the Falcao sweepstakes but Man City apparently outbid the former.
"Falcao's future has been the subject of much speculation this summer with Real Madrid, Arsenal and Chelsea all reportedly keen on prizing him away from the Stade Louis II," via Caught Offside.
"The Gunners had originally been favourites to land his signature, but City's spending power would surely be too great for Arsene Wenger and a deal could be struck before the weekend is over."
