As Amy Purdy starts to show off her dancing skill in the season 18 of "Dancing with the Stars", nobody could think that she's a double amputee.
Physical disability may not be enough to become a hindrance for a person to share to the world what she's capable of doing. In the latest season of DWTS, every viewer was in awe as the paralympic snowboarder shows her dance moves with her dance pro partner Derek Hough. Amy Purdy definitely captivated the viewers with her amazing talent despite of the fact that she's a double amputee.
Merely watching the dance and not taking notice of her artificial legs, no one will believe that she lost both of her legs. It seems hard to think that a performer using prostheses will survive heavy dance competition such as that of Dancing with the Stars. As the dance competition finished its latest season, Amy Purdy as an amputee, has proved the people wrong about their conceptions of her not making it through the show.
Landing in the second spot, just one place behind the champions Meryl Davis and Maksim Chmerkovskiy, she already inspired many people especially those who also have some physical disabilities. Purdy and her dance pro partner Hough were able to make it to the grand finale of the season and even nearly making it to the champions place. Although Amy Purdy is an amputee, it didn't become a hindrance to show her talent and dancing and even in continuing her skills in snowboarding.
Contracting Neisseria meningitis at the age of 19 and after suffering with an infection in the circulatory system, the snowboarder has lost both of her legs and even her kidneys. At a young age, she was given by her doctor only two percent of chance of surviving her condition. However, she has been lucky enough to regain her health status.
Just seven months after receiving her leg prosthetics, she already began snowboarding thus, many people are becoming inspired with her. Amy Purdy as a double amputee has won several competition including a bronze in Sochi 2014 Paralympic Games. Her motivation in life despite of her disability has been an inspiration to many.
