Royal Caribbean's Quantum of the Seas to Make Epic 53-Day Trip from the U.S. to China

The newest Royal Caribbean cruise ship, Quantum of the Seas, will make its debut with an epic trip. The ship will be making a 53-day journey from the US to China in 2015.

The 4,180-passenger Quantum of the Seas is expected to launch its epic trip on May 2, 2015 from New York. It will make a trip across the Atlantic Ocean and will head through the Mediterranean and then through the Suez Canal on to the Persian Gulf, Indian Ocean, and Asia, the Daily Mail reports.

The ship will make stops at almost two dozen ports. Some will include stops in Barcelona; Aqaba, Jodan; Dubai; Cochin, India; Muscat, Oman; Penang, Malaysia; Singapore; and Hong Kong.

The schedule for the ship's journey was announced just as Royal Caribbean revealed that it will by launching the North Star, which is a glass capsule on the ship that will transport guests more than 300 feet above the ocean by a mechanical arm. The structure was inspired by the London Eye and will give brave guests the chance to hover over the ocean and get incredible 360-degree views. The North Star will lift as many as 13 guests at a time.

Although making its trip in May 2015, the Quantum of the Seas will make its debut in November. The ship is currently under construction in a German shipyard.

The North Star is just one of many highly-anticipated attractions on the new ship. Royal Caribbean ships already have zip lines, real trees, boxing rings and the world's first sea bound amphitheater, but Quantum of the Seas will have even more. Other new features, which will be free to guests, include the Sea-Plex, which is the largest indoor sports and entertainment complex at sea with bumper cars, a simulated skydiving experience, a surfing simulator and "virtual balconies" or video screens that stream views of the ship's surroundings to interior cabins.

The Quantum of the Seas will also feature Jamie's Italian restaurants, some "family connected" staterooms for large groups and "studio staterooms" for single travelers.
