DWTS season 18 has finally announced its winners after ten long weeks of dancing battles.
Tuesday night's result show revealed the dancing pair that will be awarded with the mirror ball trophy. Meryl Davis emerged as the DWTS season 18 winner, beating other contenders. The night has been all about the three remaining dancing celebrities which includes Amy Purdy, Candace Cameron Bure and Meryl Davis together with their dancing pro partners.
After performing two routines on Monday night, the three remaining pairs perform another dance routine for their 24-hour fusion challenge. It has been a tough challenge since the pairs are only given 24 hours to come up with a dance that mixed two different dance styles. Eliminated contestants also rejoined the DWTS season 18 as it announced its winner.
Opening the grand finale was a dance a dance number that featured all of the dancers in the show. Aside from all the dancing stuff, other artists also join the show. Pop performances included Ariana Grande, Cody Simpson, last season's champion Amber Riley and Christina Perri.
Landing on the third spot were Mark Ballas and "Full House" star Candace Cameron Bure after scoring 78 out of 90 for the two-night performances. The pair who performed a mix of samba and quickstep has been lucky to join the finals since Ballas got seriously injured over the weekend's rehearsals. Bure said that it was a great accomplishment while Ballas said that she made an amazing friend.
DWTS 18 second spot winners were Amy Purdy and Derek Hough scoring 89 points out of 90 after performing the combination of Argentine tango and cha-cha. The paralympian continued to stun the judges with her performance until the finals. She has been dancing the entire season with her prosthetics.
Awarded with the mirror ball trophy were Meryl and Maksim Chmerkovskiy who scored a perfect 90. Performing the foxtrot and cha-cha combinations, the dancing pair was able to make it to the top. The Olympian ice dancer was speechless after they were announced as the DWTS season 18 winners. The pair who was rumored to be dating shared an amazing chemistry throughout the season.
"It's just plastic, but it means so much... to do it with Meryl is a dream come true. There's a reason why it didn't happen before. This was meant to happen with this one" Dancing with the Stars winner Maks said.
