Tips for More Affordable Airfare!

With the economy today, the idea of going on vacation may hurt your feelings when looking into your wallet. Not many vacation destinations have prices that may fit into your budget, however here are some tips that can help you get some good deals in the future!

The first thing you may want to do is check for ticket prices early and often. It is almost on a weekly basis that prices fluctuate, and the sooner to the date you get to buying your ticket, the more you will have to pay out of pocket.

My best advice would be, if you want to plan a summer vacation, I would buy my tickets between 3 weeks to 4 months prior to my destination date. That way, you can pay for your ticket and start saving money for vacation spending!

Buying tickets at the right time is a great tip for saving a lot of money on your next trip. When buying too early or buying too late, you are putting yourself at risk for paying large premium amounts.

Studies have shown that booking 3 weeks to 4 months prior to your vacation time is ideal for most flights within the U.S. However, when booking flights around holiday season, prices can be tricky.

Make sure to look for seasonality and holidays. Being aware of when to take a trip is just as important as when to buy the tickets. Flight capacity is very important. So, trying to book around spring break can make your search a little difficult. First come first serve!

Third tip: Days of the week play a role. What do I mean by that? - The days of the week determine how much you pay. Usually, Tuesday and Wednesday are the least expensive days for domestic flights.

Friday and Sunday, unfortunately, are the most expensive days of the week. Research has proven that by booking on a Friday or a Sunday can charge you up to 35 dollars extra!

If you plan for a weekend getaway, I would try searching for a Saturday to Monday or Tuesday trip as opposed to a Thursday or Friday to Sunday trip.

Last tip for the day: make sure to mix and match airlines to get the cheapest flights. There are plenty of websites that compare flights and even hotels for the cheapest prices. You have Cheapair.com, Expedia.com, hotwire.com and more!

When looking at different companies, you will get help in receiving the most out of your dollar!
