TMZ publicized the story that Sally filed for legal separation on May 2. According to TMZ's sources, the legal separation papers will soon be turned to divorce after Sally meets the California residency requirement in 3 months.

Huffington Post reports that Sally had also filed his own court documents for separation in California earlier in the month. Both reports of Sherri Shepherd files divorce papers and Sally filing earlier in the month came after rumors of the couple's plans to separate. Even after Sherri Shepherd files divorce papers, she has not yet publicly commented on their relationship.

Shepherd has chosen to keep quiet on "The View" and Twitter. However, in an interview with "People" magazine, she said that Sally has lost "freakin' 50 pounds." The 47-year-old even joked that her future ex-husband is on a "divorce diet."
