Will.i.am. of the Black Eyes Peas was not happy with United Airlines after he got kicked out of their first class lounge because they thought his membership card was fake.
The popstar and rapper took to Twitter to criticize the airline and to explain that he was removed from the United Airline Global First Lounge because the staff wouldn't believe that his membership card was real.
Will. I.am tweeted right after the incident, saying "#unitedAIRLINES is the worse. I'm a member and I have my card to prove it. but they tell me my card is and kick me out the lounge #ouch."
After he left the lounge, he took a photo of the United Airline Global First poster and said "I got kick(ed) out the club #unitedCLUBsucks." It is not clear at what airport the incident occurred but the star had tweeted earlier that he was on his way to Washington to visit the rapper Sean "Diddy" Combs, who is his close friend.
To make matters more frustrating, the star said that after he was kicked out of the lounge, a United Airlines pilot asked him to take a picture with him. "I get kicked out of the @united lounge because they say I'm not a member ... oh well ... and then the @united pilot asks me to take a selfie," he wrote.
Even though he was kicked out of the fancy lounge, wil.i.am, also knows as William Adams, said he did find a place to relax as he waited for his flight. As a joke, he tweeted a photo of his seat in the departure lounge, where most
customers sit.
United Airlines responded to the incident and stood by their claims that will.i.am's membership wasn't real. "We invite only customers travelling in United Global First, customers with Global Services status traveling in United BusinessFirst, and customers traveling in first class on other Star Alliance carriers to visit our Global First Lounges. Since the customer did not meet these criteria he did not have access to the lounge. We are reaching out to the customer and appreciate his business," an airlines spokesperson said according to Independent.co.uk.
