Air Pollution Billboard In Peru [VIDEO]: See an Amazing Billboard in Peru with the Technology That Cleans Up Air Pollution As Efficient As 1,200 Trees

Air pollution billboard in Peru has been installed by UTEC, the University of Engineering and Technology of Peru this year. Since air pollution and billboards are unavoidable in congested cities, UTEC has found a way of incorporating the function of trees in billboards. Since the school has built their new campus in downtown Lima, they came up with air pollution billboard in Peru to improve the quality of the city's air.

Lima is one of the cities in the world with the worst air pollution, according to a report by the World Health Organization. Most of Lima's pollution is caused by vehicle traffic, says the Peruvian Times.

UTEC specifically designed the air pollution billboard in Peru to filter out the types of contaminants such as dust, metal particles and stone dust, along with bacteria and germs. The university has taken samples of the recovered contaminants, and they used these to learn more about urban pollution.

Design Boom reports that the cleaning process in the air pollution billboard in Peru uses water and basic thermodynamics to clean the air. The billboard uses only around 2,500 watts while it runs - less than what an air conditioner in a large room uses up.

According to TIME, the air pollution billboard in Peru can clean up to 3.5 million cubic feet of pollution per day. UTEC is the same university responsible for developing the world's first potable water-producing billboard. It seems that the school is passionate in merging environmental endeavors with advertising. This year, they have installed the air pollution billboard in Peru, downtown Lima.

The air pollution billboard in Peru is located within a construction site, and the new air-purifying innovation cleans the air as efficiently as 1,200 trees. That is approximately 3.5 million cubic feet ( 100,000 cubic meters ) of fresh oxygen per day, a big feat for one billboard.

According to the Peruvian Times, the technology used attached in the air pollution billboard in Peru absorbs the pollution, filters it using thermodynamics through a specially designed water system, and after that brings back pure O2 to the atmosphere at up to a five block radius.

Air pollution billboard in Peru if proven successful may just pave the way for greener billboards in the future.
