Chris Brown sentenced to life in prison? Nah! Just a couple more months after the ruling of the court didn't really go the singer's way.
Chris Brown admitted Friday a violation whilst he was still on probation for an altercation outside a Washington, D.C. hotel last year. Because of this, the singer was sentenced to an additional 131 days in jail while remaining on probation, USA Today has learned.
Brown appeared in court and admitted to committing the violation by getting into a fight in October, amid the presence of his mother and several friends and loyal supporters.
As opposed to other reports claiming that Chris Brown was sentenced to life in prison, Superior Court Judge James R. Brandlin reportedly sentenced the singer to serve a year in country jail.
However, Judge Brandlin gave the singer credit for serving nearly eight months, including the time when Rihanna's ex-boyfriend stayed in rehab and jail. The credits also account for his low-profile and good behavior while serving his sentence in prison.
Additionally, Brown will get credit for the 234 days he already served in anger management rehab, HollywoodLife reported.
According to USA Today, the Grammy winner's admission came in a felony assault filed following his widely reported beating of pop singer and then-girlfriend Rihanna hours before the 2009 Grammy Awards.
Since his arrest following the dismissal from a court-ordered rehab sentence, Brown has been in custody since mid-March.
The misdemeanor assault charge in Washington was filed by a man, who accused Brown of hitting him outside of a Washinton, D.C. hotel.
Once he is released from jail, Judge Brandlin said Chris Brown will have to complete the remainder of his 1,000 hours of community labor. This means, the singer is to remain on probation until Jan. 23.
"Chris is in pain and he's suffering mentally," an insider told HollywoodLife on Chris Brown's suffering while serving his sentence. "It's bad, real bad. All hope is gone. He can't take it and everybody that knows him can't believe he's still alive."
Meanwhile, whoever said that Chris Brown was sentenced to life in prison got it absolutely wrong as TMZ reported that due to the serious overcrowding in California jails lately, there's an even better chance that Chris Brown will be released earlier than expected.
