Chris Brown sentenced to serve an additional 131 days in prison after violating the terms of his probation.
The R&B star has been ordered by a California court to extend his days serving in jail after his admission of a crime he committed while on probation. On Friday, Brown appeared in court and admitted that he made a crime in Washington DC last October. With that, Chris Brown was sentenced to remain on probation.
Los Angeles Judge James R. Brandlin formally made a one-year sentence, but also gave credit for the time that the Grammy award-winning singer served. Brown previously served 234 days in both rehab and jail. Chris Brown's sentence is then reduced into 131 days.
According to other reports, the singer was credited with a reduction in the number of days that he must serve in jail after showing a good behavior while he was still behind bars. It can be recalled that Chris Brown's sentence first took effect when he pleaded guilty to assaulting pop-singer Rihanna who happened to be his girlfriend that time. The assault case was filed against him after he attacked the singer just hours before the 2009 Grammy Awards.
Brown has been already under court supervision since 2009. This time, the 25 year-old singer faces a misdemeanor assault charge in Washington after a man accused him, and his bodyguard of hitting him when they were outside in a hotel in the city.
During the Friday's court proceedings, Brown repeatedly answered "yes sir" to the questions asked by the judge. Included in the questions is his acknowledgement of the crime committed in Washington. Furthermore, it is still not certain if Chris Brown's sentence will be affected by the singer's admission of the case.
Judge Brandlin also added that he needs to complete the remaining number of hours in his 1,000-hour community service when he is already out of jail. Brown is expected to remain on probation until January 23.
