Hallway assault on Monday is a shocker as the 17 year-old student allegedly raped another student in the school's hallway while the first class is going on.
Parkside High School student Jocori Marece Scarborough is accused of making sexual advances to a 15 year-old student of the same school. Previous reports say that Scarborough dragged the female student whose identity is not divulged down the hall and forced sexual intercourse. Hallway assault made Scarborough arrests by the authorities on Tuesday.
The alleged attack took place in Parkside High School on Monday at around 8 a.m. Many of the school's teachers and authorities are puzzled how the crime happened since the first class of the day starts at the same time. Charging document states that the male student pulled the girl down the hallway where the assault occurred.
According to the victim, Scarborough was making sexual advances when they were walking in the early Monday morning. She repeatedly says no but the suspect dragged her in the area where security cameras can't see them. When they were already out of sight, Scarborough allegedly lifted her skirt up and forced sexual intercourse.
The victim said that she continually tried to stop him and shouted ‘no'. The girl was sent to Peninsula Regional Medical Center for medical treatment while a warrant was issued for the suspect's arrest after the hallway assault. Scarborough as an adult was charged with first and second degree rape, first and second degree assault, kidnapping, false imprisonment and molestation at school.
If he is convicted of first-degree rape, he could face a sentence of life in prison. Scarborough was arrested on Tuesday, but was also released that night after he made a $100,000 bail. District Court Judge Paula Ann Price has issued a temporary restraining order saying that the suspect can't contact the victim in any way.
After the hallway assault occurred, many students are now having fear and even their parents to be at the said school.
"I don't feel safe sending my daughter to that school," a parent said whose daughter is scheduled to attend her freshman year at Parkside in September, according to USA Today.
