The woman identified as Kristin Hopkins is scheduled to undergo surgery next week after her car crashed in the rural highway located southwest of Denver. Hopkins, who was stranded for five days has been entered into the police's list of missing persons. However, no active search was initiated since she is already an adult and no signs of foul play were noted.
While Hopkins was struggling for her life, she wrote her pleas for help in her umbrella that she managed to push through a broken window of her car with a hope that someone might eventually notice her. The area that her car fell is actually out of the view for the passersby. Hopkins was stranded for five days in her car with no food and water and greatly needs help.
Rescuers who went into the scene found her alive and coherent, but severely injured and dehydrated. The firefighters who responded into the scene first thought that it was a retrieval mission, but they were surprised that Hopkins reached out with her hand when they broke the window. She was then brought to the St. Anthony Hospital via helicopter and was treated for her injuries from the crash.
Being stranded for five days with no food and water, Hopkins was in critical condition when she arrived in the hospital and according to her family, she will be losing her feet due to the injuries that she sustained.
