METEOR SHOWER TONIGHT IS AT ITS PEAK: BEST LOCATIONS DETERMINED FOR EASY VIEWING

Meteor shower tonight will be at its peak for this year after the Earth passes through the trail of dust from Halley's comet.

Many stargazers will surely be enjoying the view from the sky this evening as the known Eta Aquarid meteor shower tonight, will occur. The Eta Aquarid occurs when the Earth is passing through the dust from the Halley's comet and is observed every year. Meteors are also called as the shooting star wherein most people make a wish when it shows in the sky.

The shower is a result of the entrance of dust particles in the Earth's atmosphere. As it enters the atmosphere, it encounters friction which causes it to heat up and produce a streak of light. Star gazers will be able to witness the peak of the meteor shower tonight, just hours before the dawn of Tuesday and again early on Wednesday.

According to CBS Boston, the meteor shower tonight will favor observers that are present in the southern parts of the globe. This will be one of the best showers for this year since they can observe 30-40 meteors per hour with their naked eye. Meanwhile, those observers in the northern part of the planet may observe a frequency of 10 meteors in one hour.

Viewing condition of the shower, however, will depend on certain conditions. Glowing city lights may affect one's night vision so it would be best to stay away from that kind of lights. Sky conditions will also be a factor as clouds may cover the meteor shower tonight.

The Universe Today says that the meteor shower tonight will be best viewed in an hour or two just before dawn. Those who live in the southern part of the U.S. will have about three hours to view 35 degrees high. For northern viewers,it will be best to view the shower when facing east.
