Long Grove garage explosion on Friday night caused damaged and rattled the entire community as a forceful blast was felt miles away.
The night sky was filled with fire and smoke when a house suddenly exploded in the northwest suburban Long Grove. A loud blast heard for miles away has rattled the communities on Friday night. Investigators said that the possible cause of the Long Grove garage explosion is a natural gas leak.
Though no fatality was recorded, the said explosion destroyed one home and caused minor damages to further houses. Many residents in the area reported to have broken glasses and said that their houses shaking from the sudden blast. The house is now leveled after the incident.
According to the Daily Herald, the homeowner was lucky to get out of the house just few moments before it exploded. Her house that was involved in the Long Grove garage explosion was located in Trenton Court near the Royal Melbourne Country Club. Lake County sheriff's Sgt. Erwin Drummond said that the homeowner sustained minor injuries at the back of her legs yet resisted for medical treatment.
Before the homeowner left her house she said that she smelled natural gas and saw some sparks from the power generator. The sudden Long Grove garage explosion definitely brought fear to the neighborhood as it was heard even from miles away. In addition to the severely damaged house, three other more were reported to be affected by the explosion though it is not yet clear what is the extent of the damage.
According to the previous reports regarding the Long Grove garage explosion, rescuers first received a call at around 10:45 in the evening. Firefighters who responded to the scene were still battling the fire after 1 o'clock in the morning. The homeowner of the exploded house is now taking shelter in one of her neighbors.
Investigators continue to determine what could possibly be the exact cause of the sudden blast.
