Of Dry Shampoo and Flower Crowns: A Preparation Guide to Music Festivals

Music festivals are great places to chill, meet new friends, and take Instagram-worthy photos in. But with all the people and heat and did I mention people? your music festival experience can be one you don't want to put on repeat. Sorry to burst your bubble, but nope, you can't go all YOLO to a supposed laidback event.

Here's a few things to remember when preparing for a music festival:

1. HYDRATE: Music festivals are usually done in the summer. That means you get to bond with Mr. Golden Sun for hours. And you won't just be sitting at this event. There will be a lot of walking and dancing, just a lot of movement in general. All these under intense heat. Bring bottles of water to keep yourself hydrated and quenched.

2. BABY WIPES: Yes, they are not just for infants. These can work wonders for your festival day out. One wipe and your skin will be dirt and grime-free. You'll be kept fresh and hygienic for the whole day.

3. SUNBLOCK: We all know that UV rays are especially harmful and that sunburns are a pain in the you-know-where. They can be, quite literally. Don't forget to lather up on sunscree and re-apply if necessary.

4. BRING A FIRST AID KIT: Sure, these events have a first aid area and an ambulance but you wouldn't want to walk far just so you can get headache medicine or a band aid. Save yourself from the hassle and bring your own kit.

5. COMFORT IS KEY: Comfort is key. Comfort and style. Okay, mostly comfort. When you're at music festivals, you want to have fun and relax. Not feel hot and itchy all over. Loose tank tops, printed shorts, maxi dresses and skirt, cut out shirts, these are music fest wear. They are comfortable and light and luckily, fashionable as well. As long as it won't be a bother, wear as much color and accessories for the perfect festival OOTD.

6. TRESS TIPS: Infinite thanks to the person who invented dry shampoo. Dry shampoo absorbs grease and will maintain your hair's freshness and cleanliness. If your hair is long, it is recommended that you wear it up to avoid it from getting frizzy and messy.

7. PORTABLE PHONE CHARGER OR POWER BANK: Chances are your phone's battery is going to die. You don't want that. Be prepared and bring a power bank so your photos of this day will be stored in your phone's memory, not just in yours.

8. GO WITH THE RIGHT PEOPLE: You love all your friends and they are all a blast to be with it, sure sure. Let's just say that not all of them are the best companions to a music festival. It will be hot and there will be a lot of people and you don't want to have to babysit. Make sure that you and your companions will be on the same page.

9. BRING CASH:It is very likely that there will be ATM machines there but it is also likely that you will be welcomed by a long line. And a huge and unecessary charge. Bring cash just in case.

10. BLANKETS AND CHAIRS: There will be no chairs there and it's either grass or cement. If chairs are permitted, bring the folding canvas chairs. Blankets are great too especially if you want to sprawl or lie down.
