Kim Novak decided she has had enough. The veteran actress finally spoke regarding the criticisms she received during the Academy Awards. Novak, 81, who co-presented with Best Actor Matthew McConaughey at the prestigious awards show, was subjected to a whirlwind of online insults about her facial appearance. Kim posted an open letter on Facebook where she admitted that she has had fat injections on her face. She defended her choice by saying that she felt that the injections were less invasive than a face lift and that she had it done in 2012 for the TCM interview special. She also expressed that a person has a right to look as good as they can and that she feels better when she looks better.
An excerpt from the "Vertigo" actress' letter reads "It's time to address the elephant in the room...the Oscars," she wrote. "I was very excited when I was asked to be a presenter on the show. I was excited, yet nervous. Years ago, I walked away from Hollywood partially because I didn't stand up to the bullies. I caved in to the pressure instead of fighting for what I felt was right...and I didn't have the courage to prove myself to my peers through my work."
Kim also compared her Oscars experience to when she was honored at the Cannes Film Festival where she received a standing ovation. She said that after the Oscars, she was bullied by the internet, the public and the media. Kim also expressed regret that she took a pill that night and it changed her behavior. Kim admitted that she was crushed by the bashing and insults and that she didn't leave her house for days after the ceremony and that all the negative reaction sent her into a tailspin. She said that it got her like it gets kids and teenagers who are being attacked.
Donald Trump's tweet was one of the hurtful messages that Kim received after her Oscars appearance. The tycoon tweeted that Novak "should sue her plastic surgeon." Hours later, Trump tweeted a message that said "I was always a big fan of Kim Novak and still am - a wonderful actress."
