Good Friday Earthquake: Will There Be A ‘Good Friday’ Mega Quake Like What Happened 50 Years Ago?

A Good Friday earthquake is expected to hit several countries. At least that's what several online discussions claim. The said polls even say that there is a big possibility that the 1964 mega quake that struck Alaska might be revived today amid the Good Friday commemoration.

According to Yahoo! News, the historical Good Friday mega quake struck at 5:36 p.m. Alaska Standard Time. The mega quake reportedly lasted for 4 minutes and the ground reportedly cracked open as giant fissures swallowed a number of children whole.

Documented landslides launched tsunamis that swept away coastal villages before the Good Friday earthquake even ended.

Live Science reports that no earthquake has matched the power of the March 27, 1964 mega quake now referred to as the Great Alaska earthquake.

Experts said the Good Friday mega earthquake was at magnitude 9.2 - the second strongest quake ever recorded.

Fifty years hence, many are speculating that the mega quake is bound to resurface. Some online poll sites infer that a 9.8 quake is expected to hit California on April 18.

On the other hand, there are other online discussions saying that the big earthquake is not exactly going to happen on Good Friday, adding that the tremor could happen somewhere between April 17th to April 19th.

Nevertheless, authorities claim that no significant tremors are expected to occur this Good Friday. There isn't even a single indication that an earthquake is to hit any parts of the US.

On other news, a Maundy Thursday earthquake reportedly hit Iran.

According to the Associated Press, Iran's state TV reports that a magnitude 5.3 quake has jolted a sparsely populated district in the south of the country.

The Maundy Thursday quake was said to be moderate and no one was reportedly injured out of the incident.

Local reports said the quake struck in Shonbeh Thursday morning at 4:01am.
