Nirvana songs blasted throughout the Rock Hall of Fame. The concert brought on nostalgia as the reunion had Nirvana songs rocking through speakers. This time though, it was a totally different experience when Lorde, Joan Jett and St. Vincent stepped in for Kurt Cobain.
The four female rockers sang four Nirvana songs at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Brooklyn. The four paid tribute to Kurt Cobain and Nirvana's history over the past 20 years.
The Rock Hall of Fame last night was graced by a Nirvana reunion of sorts on Thursday night. Living members Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic were coupled by famous guest vocalists during performances of the classic Nirvana songs.
R.E.M's Michael Stipe inducted the band then guitarist Pat Smear joined in afterwards with the performance of a four-song set.
Among the Nirvana songs that Joan Jett did vocals for was "Smells Like Teen Spirit", while Kim Gordon of Sonic Youth's assisted in "Aneurysm". St. Vincent took on the one of the Nirvana songs "Lithium" and Lorde dramatically finished the amazing set with one of Nirvana songs "All Apologies".
Joan Jett seemed ecstatic working with the band as she co-wrote with Grohl for a song alled "Any Weather". She even toured with his band Foo Fighters back then.
Annie Clark, more commonly known as St Vincent, also seemed excited as she sang one of the Nirvana songs. She told MTV, "I don't sound anything like Nirvana or Pearl Jam, but seeing that it was possible, you know, suburban kids with something to say that could find an audience was an inspiration."
Though Lorde has least time to work with the band being the youngest in the bunch at age seventeen, she rocked her performance singing one of the Nirvana songs. The New Zealand native was born two years after Cobain's death.
