‘Kurt and Courtney’ Reveals Theories on Nirvana Front Man’s Death

What lies in the mystery behind the untimely death of rock icon, Kurt Cobain? Did he really commit suicide or did someone else kill him?

As part of commemoration of Kurt Cobain's 20th death anniversary, a documentary film directed by Nick Broomfield is now available for free viewing via SnagFilms.

The documentary made in 1998 entitled "Kurt and Courtney" features an investigative report on the real score of the untimely demise of rock band Nirvana front man. The controversial documentary was supposed to be included in the Sundance Film Festival's roster of films to be premiered but with Courtney Love's threat to sue, the film organizers cancelled its premiere.

"Kurt and Courtney" discusses the underlying theories that may have caused Kurt Cobain's death, 20 years ago, aside from suicide. It also takes special notice on the person of Courtney Love, who was alleged by some as the mastermind of Cobain's killing. The documentary, however, did not include Nirvana's music as Courtney Love refused to license the music to Broomfield. Broomfield accused Love of suppression of free speech after the refusal and even the near pull-out of producers to the project.

Kurt Cobain rose into fame as the front man of the rock band, Nirvana. The 'Smells like Teen Spirit' singer reportedly committed suicide in 1994 after checking out in a rehabilitation facility. He was married to Hole singer Courtney Love prior to his suicide.

20 years later, Love told NME magazine that she still feels the pain of losing Cobain.

"Kurt's death was just the biggest low," she claims. It still makes me sad that it happened, every single day." She admits to NME.

Kurt Cobain is part of the "27 club", a "group" of popular musician who passed away at the age of 27. Amy Winehouse, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, and Jim Morrison are among the stars who joins Cobain in the circle.
