Chinese Ship Detects ‘Pulse Signal’ Allegedly from Black Box of Missing Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370

The black box detector of a Chinese vessel has picked up a 'pulse signal' in the southern Indian Ocean reportedly from the black box of the missing MH370 flight.

According to the official Chinese News Agency, the Chinese ship Haixun 01, a part of the search team for the missing MH370, detected the signal that an aircraft's black box usually transmits. It has a frequency of about 37.5 kHz per second. They have yet to confirm if the signal is connected to the missing Boeing 777 which carried 239 passengers and crew.

Black box recorders contain significant information on a plane's last hours. The search for the 'black box' is now being hurried as the sound-emitting beacons and recorders' batteries might drain soon. Batteries of plane devices only last for a month and sounds coming from these beacons could provide information on the location of the missing plane.

It has been almost a month now since Malaysia Airlines MH370 went missing, and countries in Asia, Australia, and the US have exerted joint efforts to search for the plane. Reports of debris found near the Indian Ocean, about 1500 miles west of Perth, Australia, prompted authorities to send search teams with hopes of finding some information on the missing jet. All efforts went futile as the search teams found nothing. Malaysian authorities vowed to continue the search for the missing aircraft with this recent development.

Malaysian Defense Minister, Hishammuddin Hussein, said in a press briefing that providing solace for the families is more important than the mounting cost incurred in the search. "Malaysia will not stop looking for MH370," He told the reporters.

He added that authorities will appoint an independent investigator that will cover three main areas of inquiry. "One team will look at airworthiness, including maintenance, structures, and systems; another will examine operations, such as flight recorders and meteorology; and a third will consider medical and human factors," he mentioned.

The investigation team is composed of Malaysian and Australian officials and experts, as well as neighboring Asian countries, the US, and European countries.
