'How I Met Your Mother' is finally ending its long run on primetime television next week, and because of its undeniable success, it is not surprising that CBS has announced a spin-off for the series at the start of its final season.
Created at a time when many television shows have resorted to branching out by making spin-off versions, 'How I Met Your Dad' does not deviate from the signature premise of its mother show.
However, it is inevitable that CBS will be casting new actors for the new series since it is not, in a way, related to its predecessor.
The cast and crew were already chosen and more than eager to start filming, but just yesterday, news broke that Krysta Rodriguez, who was supposedly playing one of the lead characters in the show, has exited from the spin-off even before its pilot episode was shot.
According to WebProNews, Rodriguez's exit was due to the casting change made by the producers since they wanted to take the lead character in a new direction.
Originally, the lead character named Juliet, to be played by Rodriguez, was a "sexy flamboyant force of nature who runs the most successful fashion blog in the country." She acts as a "kindred spirit" to her best friend Sally, to be played by Greta Gerwig.
A day after Rodriguez's exit, the 'How I Met Your Mother' spin-off team announced that they already found a replacement, and she is no other than Tiya Sircar.
Tiya Sircar's working credentials include: The Internship, Witches of East End, The Suite Life on Deck, and The Vampire Diaries. She recently wrapped up shooting for an upcoming guest role as Allie on CBS' The Crazy Ones.
'How I Met Your Dad' follows Sally, a "Peter Pan"-like character who just ended her one-year-old marriage. As she attempts to grow-up and navigate life, Sally seeks support from her solid group of friends.
Greta Gerwig and Tiya Sircar are to play alongside Drew Tarver, Nick D'Agosto, Andrew Santino and Anders Holm in the much-anticipated HIMYM spin-off.
