Mark Sanchez who was released from Jets on March 21 is now a free agent.
The career of the American football quarterback after being released from the team of New York Jets is now a big question. Considered as the Jets' quarterback franchise, he played for the team since 2009 until last year. The New York Jets released Sanchez and signed then quarterback Michael Vick.
The Jets reached the AFC championship with Mark Sanchez Sanchez playing for the first two seasons on 2009. After being dubbed as "Sanchize", the player has struggled to the 2011 and 2012 seasons, though he was able to maintain the job. Coach Rex Ryan even had a tattoo of his wife wearing Mark Sanchez No. 6 Jets jersey.
Coach Rex Ryan said and as posted in theguardian.com: "I'd like to thank Mark for everything he's done for this team and me personally. We were rookies together and had some early success, becoming the first rookie head coach and quarterback to go to back-to-back championship games. We experienced a lot together, and I really appreciate Mark. He's a great player, a great teammate, and I wish him nothing but the best."
Mark Sanchez who also played for University of Southern California (USC) suffered a shoulder injury last August 24, 2013 during the Jet's third game of the preseason against the New York Giants. The injury was initiated after being tackled by Marvin Austin. It was on September 14 last year that Sanchez was placed into the injured reserve and after his surgery on October 8, it was announced that he would miss the rest of the season.
Now a free agent, Mark Sanchez is actually due for a $2 million bonus if he was still on the roster on March 25. Now, the Jets can save up to $8 million on his contract. Sanchez was cut from the team due to various reasons which include a bloated cap charge of $13.1 million and a surgically impaired shoulder as reported by ESPN.
