Maldives Malaysia plane sighting is not true, Malaysia's Acting Transport Minister Hishammuddin Hussein said. Investigators who have been searching the baffling disappearance of a Malaysia Airlines aircraft with 239 passengers puts a period on the Maldives sighting. They have finally removed any belief of the possibility of the Maldives Malaysia plane sighting being the missing Malaysia plane.
According to recent reports, several residents of a place called Kudahuvadhoo, in the Maldives, have seen a low-flying jet with red and blue stripes on the morning of March 8. This was a few hours before the now missing Malaysia plane lost contact with air traffic control and Flight MH370 disappeared en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing.
The Maldives Malaysia plane sighting started speculations that the low-lying aircraft could have been the missing Malaysian Airlines plane. Minivan News, a Maldives news website quoted five eyewitnesses who allegedly saw the jet. One of the eyewitnesses was Adam Saeed, a teacher at Kudahuvadhoo school. He said, "It was about 6:30 in the morning, I heard a loud noise and went out to see what it was. I saw a flight flying very low and it had a red straight line in the middle of it. The flight was travelling north-west to south-east."
However, in a news conference on Wednesday, Minister Hishammuddin Hussein said that reports of the Maldives Malaysia plane sighting had already been investigated by the Maldives police. The Malaysian Transport Minister is convinced that the sightings were not true.
Aside from Malaysia's Acting Transport Minister Hishammuddin Hussein, the Maldives Malaysia plane sighting have also been officially discounted by a Maldives National Defence Force's statement.
The statement said, "Based on the monitoring up to date, no indication of Flight MH370 has been observed on any military radars in the country." And added, "Furthermore, the data of radars at Maldives airports have also been analysed and shows no indication of the said flight. The Maldives National Defence Force will continue to render any assistance required by the Maldives Police Service and international authorities on the search for the missing flight and related issues."
The Maldives Malaysia plane sighting may or may not be the missing Malaysia plane. Whatever the truth is, one is true - for the relatives of the passengers of the missing Malaysia plane, no possibilities are going to be discounted. Each day that passes that the plane is not found means one more passenger in that plane could be dead.
