Delta Flight Diverted Due to a Drunk Man That Got Into a Fight with His Wife

A drunk married couple caused a Delta Air Lines flight to make an emergency landing on Grand Cayman island on Sunday night. The landing was sparked by a man who got into a drunken argument with his wife on the Atlanta to Costa Rica flight.

Once the plane landed in Grand Cayman island, a Louisiana man named Michael Foret, 33, was escorted from the flight and was held in custody on charges of drunk and disorderly conduct, Royal Cayman Islands Chief Inspector Raymond Christian said according to the Toronto Sun. That may not be it though. He could also face further charges under the international air law, Christian said.

According to Reuters, Foret appeared in front of a Cayman Islands judge and he was fined for disruptive behavior aboard a commercial flight. He had to pay $600.

The fight must have been really bad because the wife reportedly stayed on the flight to head to San Jose, Costa Rica.

The incident was confirmed by Delta spokeswoman Lindsay McDuff who said that a "disruptive customer" caused the crew of flight 901 to make an emergency landing in Grand Cayman. "The flight landed without incident and the customer was met by local authorities," McDuff said.

Unfortunately for non-rowdy passengers, this isn't the only incident of its kind recently. In recent weeks, another Delta flight had to make an emergency landing because of another drunk passenger. The incident, which took place on a Delta flight from Baltimore to Salt Lake City Feb. 7, involved a drunk female passenger who caused the flight to be diverted.
