That is if the undefeated WBO welterweight champion defeats the Filipino boxer in their upcoming rematch on April 12th, 2014 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Timothy Bradley (31-0, 12 KOs) of the United States said that boxing superstar Manny Pacquiao (55-5-2, 38 KOs) has nowhere to run if the American will win their championship bout.
According to Bradley, this fight is a "do or die" situation for Pacquiao, who has suffered back to back losses in 2012, losing a controversial split decision to Bradley in May and getting dropped by Juan Manuel Marquez in November.
Pacquiao bounced back in November of 2013, where he outboxed a popular yet unrefined brawler Brandon Rios in Macau, China.
Bradley, on the other hand, easily defeated Pacquiao's rival Juan Manuel Marquez via a unanimous decision victory in his last fight back in October of 2013.
Bradley argued that it is hard to tell whether the old Manny is back, citing that his fight with Rios was not a significant argument as far as styles are concerned. There is a huge gap of talent and experience between Rios and Bradley, which is why using the Rios fight as a basis for a potential Pacquiao victory over Bradley is not a valid argument.
The American champion said Pacquiao did not have the "killer instinct" versus Rios.
Veteran boxing broadcaster Larry Merchant says that it is a tossup between Pacquiao and Bradley at this point. Bradley has the style and the skills to make it hard for Pacquiao but the Filipino is still a force to reckon with inside the ring.
For Bradley, the motivation for winning his rematch against Pacquiao is redemption and respect. It can be remembered that the boxing community felt that Pacquiao won the fight and was cheated on the scorecards.
And he won't be handing his WBO welterweight title to Pacquiao either, saying the Filipino should "earn it back".
