Paula Creamer wins HSBC Women's Championship by hitting 75-foot putt against Azahara Munoz of Spain.
During the Sunday second playoff hole at the the HSBC Women's Championship in Singapore, Paula Creamer just shot an extremely long 75-foot putt causing her to win against Azahara Munoz.
The 27-year-old found the green of the par-5 18th in two but faced an impossible 75-foot putt for eagle.
The victory is the pro golfer's first since 2010, and her feedback regarding the win is less enthusiastic than expected. Nonetheless, in an interview with Golf Channel, Creamer told them that it really was a miracle that it went down.
On another interview, Creamer told Associated Press after the round that it looks like lady luck has been on her side during this playoff. She could have stood during her turn and she could have lasted all day, probably to the chagrin of the viewers and fans.
She said, "It's one of those putts where if you just get it in the right spot, it's going to fall down." And added, "But I could stand there all day long and putt that and I don't think get it within six, seven feet."
Luckily this year she was fortunate enough, and to be certain, good enough, to have prevailed. Creamer wouldn't have been successful had she not contain the proper skills for the victory. That's because she drained it to win.
In regard to the win, many journalists had nothing but praise for the talented golfer
Stina Sternberg of Golf Digest expresses her admiration for the champ by tweeting "Paula Creamer jumps three spots to No. 8 in the Rolex World Ranking this week. Now second-best American in the world (Stacy Lewis is No. 3)."
