Ellen DeGeneres' Oscars 'selfie' hits 3 Million re-tweets, well, almost, and in less than just 2 days. Ellen DeGeneres is a prominent Hollywood celebrity, but this most epic 'selfie' picture of her with other famous stars in Hollywood nonetheless proves that celebrities are just like any normal person. The Oscars 'selfie' was taken on Sunday, March 2 and as of the current moment, has already met with much impartial attention with 2,723,365 retweets and 1,403,206 favorites.
Apart from Jennifer Lawrence's portrayal of a real human being - capable of falling at the red carpet - Ellen DeGeneres' Oscars 'selfie' is the second best representation of Hollywood celebs doing normal people stuff.
Perhaps this is the reason why the 56-year-old's 'selfie' hit 3 million retweets in less than 2 days - almost. The 'selfie' taken by the The Ellen Show host is similar to any common group of friends having a fun time at a prestigious event.
The prestigious event in writing is none other than the 86th Academy Awards. An esteemed event married with such a casual act from one of its attendees gave tech giant Samsung and social network twitter the biggest bacon to bring home that night.
Taken mid-way through the first hour of the show, the comedian live tweeted the event by taking out her white Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and took a selfie from the stage captioned "#Oscars #blessed #blurry." After that is when she made internet history. The funny host walked up to 3-time Oscar winner actress Meryl Streep while asking for a photo. As she said "this will be the most retweeted selfie in history", other actors dived in on the action to have their smiles taken as well. The photo included Bradley Cooper, Jared Leto, Jennifer Lawrence, Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts, Kevin Spacey, Lupita Nyong'O, Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Channing Tatum and Lupita's brother Peter.
Ellen captioned the infamous tweet pic "If only Bradley's arm was longer. Best photo ever."
And the rest, as everybody is now familiar with, is history.
At the first 15 minutes it got 300,000 hits. After 46 minutes it eventually became the most retweeted post of all time. In its first 15 minutes the tweet was retweeted more than 300,000 times.
Ellen Degeneres' Oscars 'selfie' now hits almost 3 Million retweets and Ellen acknowledges the groundbreaking twitter record. She told in a later spiel that night "It's true. We crashed Twitter and made history. It means we're all winners tonight."
