After Julianne Hough's breakup with boyfriend of three years Ryan Seacrest in March 2013, she made a commitment to take a timeout from dating, and she stuck to it.
The 25-year-old Paradise star said in an interview in March's Self, "I'm a relationship girl, and I feel so grateful for the ones I've been in. They've been excellent-I've been hurt but never angry-and they've helped me grow to be who I am today. But my goal has been to be single for an entire year."
With Hough's good looks and personality, this feat of hers is easier said than done. She admitted to the magazine that "There have been moments when I'm like, 'This sucks!' But my dad used to say to me, 'When you feel happy with who you are, you won't need anybody to fill a void.'
So the talented actress and dancer is now focusing on her work and her soul. She added to the interview that she doesn't care anymore if she meets somebody or not. She's "just loving life on my own with my own two feet on the ground."
Hough has been recently linked to Canadian hockey player Brooks Laich as the two has been seen in photos holding hands in L.A. She made no comments regarding the romance rumours.
Aside from her love life issues, the Rock of Ages star also shared her diet and fitness secrets with Self. "Eating is an experience for me. It's like, 'This might be my last meal, so I better have everything on the menu!'"
She loves dinner in Italian: an artichoke salad, penne with red sauce and a margarita pizza. Afterwards, she goes to another place for dessert because it makes her moment last longer.
"I'm the queen of Yogurtland. I put graham crackers on the bottom, then a swirl of yogurt and then more topping, so it's like a parfait. By the time I'm finally done, the thing costs like 12 bucks!", she told the magazine.
She also advised people to go to the gym even though it can get quite intimidating, "People are afraid to go to the gym because they're out of shape or they won't try to do a marathon because they're scared they won't finish. But you've got to just go for it and keep going. I used to hate cardio because I have a little bit of asthma. But I've recently gotten into running. Once you pass that 'I can't breathe, this sucks so bad' moment, it's therapeutic."
With her life a breeze these days, it's not far-fetched that this break from romance can last longer for Hough.
Another non-love life related thing she focuses on right now is her latest shoe line. Watch the launch by clicking this link of E!'s exclusive interview with the star.
