Police are looking for a missing 26-year-old pregnant woman, who went missing after giving her ex-boyfriend a lift home almost a week ago.
Carly Scott's dog turned up at a local market on Monday, 40 miles from where she was last seen, and her burned out SUV has been found in Maui. According to the police force in Maui, the 1997 Toyota 4runner has been confirmed as Carly's car and was found near a remote surfing spot.
Carly, known as 'Charli' by family and friends, went missing on Sunday after picking up her ex-boyfriend, who said he had car trouble. Carly had her dog with her at the time.
Carly's ex-boyfriend, Steven Capobianco told Hawaii News Now that Carly had picked him up and drove him to the town of Keane, dozens of miles away to fix his truck. He said later she then drove behind him in a different car. He says he eventually lost sight of her headlights and assumed she had arrived home safely.
"I sent her a 'thank you' text, but I figured she was working, that's why she didn't reply right away," said Steven. "It wasn't until the cops showed up at my house at 5:30 the next morning that I realised something was wrong."
Steven has taken a lie-detector test at the police station; after failing it, he has not asked to take it again. He has so far not been charged or investigated as a suspect in the case.
"It's undeniable I'm the main suspect here," said Steven. "but they haven't told me anything about the case. I don't know anything about it."
Carly was last seen in her silver colored 1997 Toyota 4Runner with Hawaii plates MDE 889. The vehicle is registered to Carly J. SCOTT.
This vehicle has a silver skull in the front grill. K. SCOTT is unsure of any other distinguishing features on the vehicle.
