Justin Bieber has been grounded. Well at least some airport artwork that was inspired by the troubled pop star. Indianapolis International Airport refused to let some Bieber inspired art hand in its halls.
The airport had hired artist Tre Reising to make an art display for a passenger concourse that would be a tribute to hip hop at art. Instead, Reising designed multicolor letters of the world "#Belieb," which is what Justin says to his fans. That didn't fly with airport managers.
"It was approved (but) it was the week of the scheduled installation when we became aware of the focus was on one particular celebrity," Carlo Bertolini, director of communications said according to USA Today.
He continued, "I think some of the headlines and certain events in the last few weeks (about Bieber), it wouldn't have been and ideal match for the airport family environment."
The airport will still pay Reising the $500 that they promised for his artwork but they didn't want the work displayed in the airport. Reising told WTHR-TV that he understands the decision but he made it thinking that travelers would have fun taking pictures with the artwork and would enjoy sharing it online by using the hashtag "#belieber."
Reising said he will take the piece back to his home in New York City and hopes to put it on display elsewhere.
The 19-year-old popstar has been in the headlines for causing a lot of trouble recently. He reportedly wouldn't stop smoking marijuana and was verbally abusing flight attendants on a chartered flight from Ontario, Canada to New Jersey.
