Windows 8.1 Update Pushed Back Two Months

Windows fans will have to wait until April for the new update. Windows 8.1, which was set to be released in March, was announced today to be moved to April. Developers eager to catch a sight of the new update will likely be able to do so on April 8.

The update is expected to improve some of the features in Windows 8, namely the keyboard usage. As reported in TechCrunch, the new code will hopefully be able to make working with a keyboard and mouse on the system more user-friendly. Other updates include being able to pin metro apps to the task bar. The main problem currently is that most users prefer the desktop version of Window 8, while current new touch and platform features are still being updated.

Windows 8 was previously leaked online before and is actually seeing moderate growth. However, this doesn't mean that its not selling at all. According to data put together by The Register, Windows XP is not in as such a steep decline as may be expected and is actually higher than Windows 8 sales.

The Patch Developers conference which is to take place on Tuesday will likely allow developers to see the new code by April 8.

Mary Jo Foley, who first reported the news on zdnet earlier today, noted that some have said that the March date was "fairly ambitious" thereby leading Microsoft to give it another month. She also reported that among some of the leaked builds of Windows 8 updates, a new enterprise mode for Internet Explorer 11 was also found.

At this time Microsoft has not commented. All people can do now is wait patiently until April, when the update will release.
