Yet another problem with a Boeing 787 Dreamliner forced an airline to cancel a fight. LOT, the Polish based airline, called off the flight from Warsaw on Monday night and had to put the passengers onto another plane after the Boeing 787 had a computer glitch.
The glitch is just the latest issue to affect a Dreamliner. Due to the issue, the passengers flight to Toronto was delayed by a few hours as they had to switch planes, Reuters reports.
"We had to restart the on-board computer just before take-off," broadcaster TVN24 quoted a LOT spokeswoman as saying. "Since such a restart and a consequent check-up of all systems takes a few hours (...) we changed the plane."
LOT has already had its fair share of problems with the Dreamliner. The airline is set to receive $30 million in compensation from Boeing for issues that grounded the airline's 787's.
The Boeing 787 Dreamliner was supposed to be revolutionary for the airline industry since it's lighter design cuts fuel use by 20 percent and it shouldn't require as much maintenance. Yet the aircraft has had a series of issues. In early 2012, all 787s across the world were grounded for three months after the planes had a series of battery issues. Boeing had to redesign the lithium-ion battery and create a new, strong containment box for the device before the planes were allowed back into service.
Despite its issues, the Dreamliner dilemmas seem to be decreasing. As of last month, its reliability rate was at 98 percent, meaning just two out of 100 flights had problems which is better than the 97 percent rate it had in October.
