Care For Some Heroin With Your Happy Meal?

Some customers want a little extra "happiness" with their Happy Meals.

A McDonald's employee in Pittsburgh was arrested Wednesday for allegedly selling heroin in Happy Meal boxes.

Undercover police officers say 26-year-old Shantia Dennis sold the narcotic at the fast food restaurant's drive-through window. Would-be customers were instructed to say, "I'd like to order a toy," in order to receive their Happy Meal bonus.

Somewhere, Buzz Lightyear is weeping.

While conducting an undercover drug buy, officers say they received 10 packets of heroin inside of a Happy Meal box handed over by Dennis at the drive-through window.

As is often the case, police were tipped-off by an informant. The cops were told that customers would call Dennis on her cell phone in advance to let her know they coming.

Following this protocol, the undercover officers called Dennis on Wednesday and arranged to make the buy. When they arrived at the drive-through window, they paid $82 for a Happy Meal that normally costs $2.

The undercover officers then proceeded to arrest Dennis, at which time they discovered another 50 packets of heroin in her purse, as well as some marijuana in her bra.

Dennis has been charged with criminal use of a cell phone, delivery of heroin, possession with intent to deliver heroin and possession of heroin and marijuana.

The Hamburglar could not be reached for comment.

However, the store's owner, Iftikhar Malik, who owns another McDonald's location in Murrysville, Pa., where another employee was also charged with dealing heroin earlier this year, issued the following statement:

"The allegations related to this employee do not represent acceptable behaviors and are not consistent with my values. As such, we take these charges very seriously and we are fully cooperating with the authorities. We are also conducting our own thorough internal investigation."
