Philip Seymour Hoffman died Sunday morning around 11:30 a.m. at his New York City apartment. Inside were five empty heroin envelopes.
The award-winning actor, who was found lying on his bathroom floor, was discovered with a needle in his arm. The five empty heroin envelopes were beside him, and two other full envelopes were nearby as the police searched his home.
Some envelopes were marked in purple with the symbol of the Ace of Spades, while others were with the symbol of Ace of Hearts. As of this moment, the cops are still trying to determine which drug dealers are using the said brand names.
Police also found scattered photos of the actor's three young kids on the floor of the fourth floor apartment 4-D on Bethune Street in Greenwich Village. Hoffman was supposed to collect them from the loft of their mother during, but didn't appear on that day.
A police official even verified this behaviour of the 46-year-old actor's to be unusual saying, "That was not like him,"
Neighbours say that the mother, together with Hoffman's kids, were at a playground a block and a half away from the apartment where he died. The mother apparently contacted a person who works with the actor to check on him. This person then went to the death scene at around 11:30 a.m. and found him dead. A 911 call from the person alerted the police and they were able to respond and arrive at the place at around 11:36 a.m., together with paramedics who confirmed his death.
According to neighbours, the mother took the kids from the playground to a nearby garage to get her car. After which she drove to Hoffman's apartment, left the kids in the car, and went up to the room and shouted "I have to see him!"
At 6:30 p.m., a van from the medical examiner's office parked in front of the building apartment. Minutes later, Hoffman is being carried inside a body bag towards the van.
And thus Philip Seymour Hoffman's life ends. What made him put a needle on his arm that day when he was supposed to see his kids we have yet to know. But needle or not, Hoffman will be remembered and considered a great film icon of his generation.
