‘Batman vs Superman’ Movie Update: Lex Luthor To Be Played By Jesse Eisenberg, Jeremy Irons as Alfred

The much talked about villain for the upcoming "Batman vs Superman" movie has been landed officially by "The Social Network" star Jesse Eisenberg.

According to NME, the young star chosen for the villain role has already made major films like "Now You See Me" and "Zombieland." Along with this news also comes the confirmed news of veteran actor Jeremy Irons to play the role of the famous butler of the Dark Knight, Alfred. Last month, there were revelations that the Man of Steel sequel will be delayed for ten months and will open instead on May 6, 2015. It was originally intended to have a 2015 summer release.

Zack Snyder's choice of Jesse for the Lex Luthor character did not go exempted from some bash made by several fans of DC comics, especially those who were aiming for Bryan Cranston to portray the role. To make things light for the emerging issue, a video by Slate emerged online too that shows the funny side of a mix up of "The Social Network" movie making a friend out of Superman.

On the other hand, "Batman vs Superman" movie director emphasized how critical the Alfred role will be in the sequel and that he finds Jeremy Irons a truly talented actor for the character. "It is an honor to have such an amazingly seasoned and gifted actor as Jeremy taking on the important role of the man who mentors and guides the guarded and nearly impervious façade that encapsulates Bruce Wayne," the director stated.

As for Jesse as Lex Luthor, Zack only had one thing to say. "Having Jesse in the role allows us to explore that interesting dynamic, and also take the character in some new and unexpected directions," My Snyder stated as reported by Just Jared.

Do you think Jesse Eisenberg is the right guy for the Lex Luthor role?
