"Thor" and "Thor: The Dark World," (AKA "Thor 2"), were both strong earnings of success. "Thor" grossed over $181 million dollars domestically and almost $450 million dollars worldwide. "Thor 2" grossed $204.5 million dollars in domestic sales and a whopping $632.9 million dollars around the globe. No one can argue with blockbuster numbers like this that add up to more than $1 billion dollars to date!
The result of such stellar success as "Thor" and "Thor 2" films, well "Thor 3" is coming in a very big way. The story's script is being collaboratively written by Craig Kyle and Christopher Yost. Kyle is a producer from both "Thor" films. Yost was part of the writing team for "Thor: The Dark World". They have collaborated on other Marvel animation series: the "X-Men," "X-Force" and "X-23" comics.
However, before "Thor 3," Marvel will return as the god of thunder again in "The Avengers: Age of Ultron." There are endless paths of opportunity for the company known as Marvel with this franchise.
Kevin Feige is producing. Feige was the senior vice president of production and development at Marvel. He was quoted by Variety as saying, "I am proud of Craig and have enjoyed working with him over these past years. His creative instincts have helped shape "Thor" and "Thor: The Dark World" at every level of the filmmaking process. The entire team at Marvel is very happy to continue collaborating with Craig as he continues as a screenwriter working with Christopher on the forthcoming chapter of Thor's adventure."
Agency representation for Kyle is CAA. Verve and Industry Entertainment represent Yost.
Chris Hemsworth is, of course, expected to return and star as the film's central character. We're all waiting to see him, yet again on the big screen. He really brings life to this comic book hero and the world of "Thor" as a mega franchise.
