Samsung Galaxy S4 Vs. LG G2: Comparison Review of Best Phone Specs, Features & More!

The year 2013 was perhaps the best year for Korean smartphone companies as Samsung and LG towered other leading brands when it comes to sales and quite obviously smartphone technology. Although technically speaking, the Galaxy S4 blows the G2 out of the water in terms of sales, LG's flagship device has a number of unmatched features and specs that bluntly beat the other smartphone in the innovation arena. So here's a quick run-down of the best of the best phone specs and features of each smartphone to give you a clearer picture on which phone outshines the other in many ways than one.

Samsung Galaxy S4 over LG G2

The Samsung Galaxy S4 houses a 5-inch display that is enhanced with AMOLED technology giving it solid contrast and astonishing viewing angles. The AMOLED technology gives the over-all display of the device a more vibrant look as colors are not oversaturated. Meanwhile, the LG G2, which sports an LCD display, is somehow a tad disappointing when it comes to its less than impressive viewing angles and not so precise color contrasts.

Still talking about their screens, we just adore the highly sensitive touchscreen of the S4, which makes it easy for one to hover his finger over the screen and open apps or perform other tasks. The more interesting part about this advanced touchscreen found in the Samsung Galaxy S4 is its capability to respond to finger gestures despite wearing gloves.

Meanwhile, both smartphones have their own way of handling multiple tasks. For the Samsung handset, it's more on the split-screen multitasking feature that allows users to run two different tasks simultaneously while sharing the same screen. On the contrary, the LG G2 has a computer-like multitasking configuration that enables the device to run mini apps in floating windows fashion. The problem for this one though is that the LG G2 can't actually launch two different apps. Instead it can only do multitasking feats using select mini apps.

Because of the smaller frame of the Galaxy S4 it is pretty obvious that it's lighter than LG's G2. At 130 grams the Samsung smartphone weighs 13 grams less than the G2. Another thing that contributes to the Samsung Galaxy S4's lighter build is the fact that it's thinner at just 7.9 mm as opposed to the G2's 8.9 mm width. Nonetheless, both phones are pretty impressive given their quite advanced features that the two Korean giant companies managed to pack in their slim frames.

Finally, the battery of the Samsung Galaxy S4 is a removable one. Hence, it gives the device an advantage especially for users who prefer to carry around spare batteries than rely on electrical charging to power up their handset's juice. Contrariwise, the LG G2 handset does not come with a removable back cover let alone removable battery.

LG G2 over Samsung Galaxy S4

What's very interesting about the LG G2 is it's a silent killer. On the get-go, one can recognize right away that the G2 is a bigger handset compared to the Samsung Galaxy S4. This is mainly due to the bigger screen size of the G2 at 5.2" as opposed to the 5-incher in the Samsung Galaxy S4.

Putting the two smartphones side-by-side, there is no denying that the compact design of the G2 outshines that of the S4. LG's ability to pack in a larger screen size in a smaller body is very commendable on this one. What's more is that the LG G2's almost bezel-free sides just add sophistication to the over-all look of the handset. Nevertheless, the Samsung Galaxy S4 also has a thin bezel, which is perhaps the thinnest compared to those found on its predecessors and other Samsung smartphones all the same.

Another delightful feat of the LG G2 is its more powerful chipset than the one found in the Samsung Galaxy S2. The Snapdragon 800 with Krait 400 cores clocked at 2.26 GHz beats the Snapdragon 600 with Krait 300 cores clocked at 1.9 GHZ in terms of launching and closing apps and scoring higher on various benchmarking tools and apps. Using Benchmark Pi, the LG G2 scored better compared to the S4 and it even crushed the Sony Xperia Z Ultra in securing the top spot among the three.

Although we have given the edge of having a removable battery to the Samsung Galaxy S4, we fully give credit to the longer battery life of the 3,000 mAh battery of the G2 as opposed to the 2,600 mAh battery of the Samsung handset. On average use, the LG G2's fuel can last about two hours longer than that of the Galaxy S4 on a single charge.

Finally, despite the fact that both the Samsung Galaxy S4 and the LG G2 sport 13 MP cameras, it is note-worthy that the G2's shooter comes with optical image stabilization (OIS), which is responsible for the unrivalled performance of the LG G2's camera in low light photography and in establishing a less shaky feel during video recording.
