Rihanna is dead. At least that's what the Internet is saying. However the "Pour it Up" singer didn't die. She's just the victim of an Internet death hoax scam. Rihanna is just fine.
Rumors started swirling this week saying that Rihanna passed away after being raped. Many came across a link on social media sites that lead to a video that says "R.I.P - SINGER RIHANNA FOUND TO BE DEAD AFTER BEING RAPED! 2014."
The link leads to a video that says she was found dead. However the video cannot be watched unless the viewer shares it on Facebook. The video never appears and the whole thing is likely a scam. Sharing the video could lead to social media account being hacked or a virus infecting your computer, so don't click it!
Some sources said the video leads to an online survey. Participating in the survey puts money in the banks of scammers and could lead to identity theft. Some may also ask for cell phone numbers. In this case, a phone account is registered from premium services which cost a lot of extra money.
Rihanna is just fine. Some of the scams may show photos of her battered face but these are photos from 2009 in which Chris Brown beat up the singer. She recently posed for a Vogue photoshoot in Brazil.
However despite the rumor being nothing more than a hoax, fans that came across the reports have taken to Twitter to question and mourn the death of the singer. Some examples of tweets include:
"Apparently Rihanna's dead?"
"Singer Rihanna Found to be Dead?'
"Just seen something on fb.. Rihanna has died ...? Wtf"
"Someone just put up a post of Rihanna dead ill cry right now I hope that was a joke."
"If Rihanna is dead I'm gonna cry omg."
