As a frequent flyer, it helps to know certain tidbits about the plane they're going to ride in as well as the flight crew they're going to fly with.
Here are some of the most interesting things travelers should know before boarding their next flight that could just make the trip a little more thought-provoking.
1. During emergencies
Here's a hard truth: The flight crew will not tell their passengers that they're not going to make it in an event of an emergency. In a Reddit story reported by CNN, a flight attendant says, "The last thing we need before we die is a riot."
Another thing to remember is that it's best for travelers not to remove their shoes at any point in time. If emergencies happen, the last thing anyone wants is running with only socks on, burning fuel on feet.
2. Bathroom
Believe it or not, bathroom locks can be opened from the outside. Before doing anything that could make for an embarrassing experience, it's best for flyers to be sure they're only doing what they need to do in the lavatory.
3. Flight deck visits
For flyers who've always wanted to check out what's going on upfront with the pilot, they are actually permitted to do deck visits. While it still may depend on how busy the flight crew is during flight, passengers can simply ask the attendants if they can take a peek.
A pilot suggested in Reddit, "You can ask during boarding to take a peek in depending on how busy we are, but it's better after landing when everyone is disembarking." They're more than happy to share their knowledge and experience to curious travelers.
4. Cabin lights
Cabin lights are turned off not exactly because the flight crew is forcing everyone to sleep. It is to help passengers adjust their eyes better so in the event of an emergency evacuation, it would be easier for them to see.
