3 Epic Turkish Adventures You Should Experience Now!

Turkey goes beyond kebabs, bazaars and hammams. In fact, there are so many more Turkish adventures travelers can choose from.

For a certified adrenaline rush, heading to Turkey is one of the best decisions outdoor enthusiasts will make. Below are some of the most epic experiences tourists won't soon forget once they are in the land where East meets West.

1. Climb Mt. Ararat

Legends say that the summit of this mountain is where Noah's Ark landed. A lot of locals believed that this is true.

As for those who simply want the intense, adrenaline rush of hiking, climbing Mt. Ararat won't disappoint. This is not a mere beginner climber's dream come true. In fact, travelers are urged to only associate with trusted special company and avoid self-proclaimed amateur guides that can compromise safety.

Once they're there, the view is impeccable. It is after all, the tallest mountain in Turkey.

2. Discover inland sea, Lake Van

Lake Van is an inland sea that's about 120 kilometers across and 400 meters deep. Deeper gives divers a breathtaking view of weird-looking 40-meter towers formed by extremophile bacteria.

Since the waters cannot escape and reroute to anywhere, its color becomes milky blue, which doesn't really do it enough justice even in photographs. Travelers can enjoy swimming in the shallow waters, where it's impossible to drown beneath the surface.

Since the inland sea is an extremely high-alkaline water, only the pearl mullet fish can survive in the lake.

3. Get lost in the ruins of Aphrodisias.

Exploring ruins is unlike any other travel experience. While Ephesus is already getting too crowded for tourists, Aphrodisias is just as equally magnificent and less crowded.

The site, filled with the ruins of theaters can best be reached via car rentals. Once there, tourists are welcomed with such ruins and be accompanied by tortoises. It's been there for thousands of years, which definitely adds to the epic adventure.
